NS/SF/Withdrawal Grades
Did you know? Attending class is the number one predictor of academic success. Similarly, completing your academic program in the allotted time on your I-20 or DS-2019 is a great way to maintain your immigration status. As an international student, it is important to know that earning grades of NF (Never-Attended Fail) or SF (Stopped-Attending Fail) can result in requiring additional time to complete your academic program. The same goes with extensive Withdrawal grades on your transcripts.
In the case that you would need additional time on your I-20 or DS-2019 in order to complete your academic program, these grades can prevent you from being eligible. Before you stop attending classes or withdrawal from a course, make sure to speak with an ISSS advisor about the consequences that could occur down the line.

International Student Profile: Meet Arham Jain
Arham Jain is a sophomore international student studying global communication. He’s from the northern state of Punjab in India, and he celebrates the unique culture of this region that he calls home. Arham says, “People say Punjabis are very energetic, very bubbly, and, sometimes, very loud. We are just ourselves—we’re not afraid to be who we are. We like to make connections with new people and make those people as family. This is how Punjabis are.” Even though he loves India, he hopes to spend his life travelling the world and immersing himself in new, exotic cultures.
