Graduate College Launches Dean's Leadership Council
Starting in 2018, the inaugural Dean’s Leadership Council members serve as Graduate College ambassadors and promote the value of graduate education as a vehicle to change lives and strengthen our community. Leadership Council members consult on Graduate College initiatives, support the Dean's efforts, collaborate to achieve Top Tier goals, and assist with fundraising to support our UNLV community of graduate students and scholars. This group will help establish and generate support for our philanthropic priorities. Fifteen members have joined so far, and it continues to grow with other individuals who have aligned goals. The group is a balance of UNLV alumni from master's and doctoral programs as well as community members and donors who are invested in the success of graduate education. You can read the bios of our current members on the Graduate College website.

As part of their work with the Graduate College, the Council will support an annual project, which is selected from a group of priority programs coming from Graduate College team members and the Graduate & Professional Student Association. Following an application process and project presentations, the Council selected to support six additional teams in the Research & Mentorship Program (RAMP) during the 2019-2020 academic year. As you may know, RAMP pairs undergraduate and graduate students, who are overseen by a faculty mentor, on research, scholarly, or creative projects to provide them with the opportunity to learn from one another and gain valuable skills. While the feedback on the program has been very positive from students, the number of participating teams has been capped due to limited funding, so the enhanced support from the Dean’s Leadership Council comes at a great time.
