VITA Launches Free Tax Services for UNLV Community
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a free tax preparation service available to the entire Southern Nevada community, including UNLV students, faculty, and staff. The service is available to individuals or families with an annual household income of $57,000 or less. The whole process is free and virtual. Simply email vita@unlv.edu to get started.

March 29: UNLV Graduate College Mural Project Proposal
The Graduate College invites proposals from UNLV students, faculty, and staff for a large-scale mural on one of two interior walls in the University Gateway Building
. Artists, designers, and creatives may propose to do an original, hand-painted mural or an original graphic design that the Graduate College will have printed as a large-scale wall wrap and installed. Both mediums are welcome. Reasonable mural painting supplies will be funded based on approved budgets and then purchased through the Graduate College following UNLV purchasing practices. In addition, selected muralists will receive honoraria ($1,500) after completion of the work. Proposals are due March 29, 2021. The project must be completed by July 31, 2021. Learn more and

April 6: Applications for Student Commencement Speakers
UNLV's spring commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 8 a.m. at Sam Boyd Stadium. Applications are currently being accepted for student speakers who will address the graduating class at these ceremonies. The student speakers must be members of the graduating class. Students may either self-nominate or be nominated by their College Dean or a faculty member. All applications will be reviewed, and the final selection will be based on civic engagement, scholarly achievements, and awards. Application packets should be emailed to Ariana Turiansky at

The Grad Academy is now accepting applications for the 2021-22 academic year! Take advantage of the following free professional development programs:
The Graduate College is looking for graduate students to be mentors in the Grad Rebel Advantage program, which helps prepare UNLV undergraduate students for graduate school at UNLV or elsewhere. Mentors must have completed at least one year of graduate studies at UNLV by the program start date, be enrolled in at least 3 graduate credits while serving as a mentor in both fall and spring semesters, and be in good academic standing. Graduate student applications are due April 8; undergraduate student applications are due April 30.
Ambassadors are highly visible members of the Graduate College team helping to build a strong graduate student Rebel community and strengthen ties between the Graduate College, alumni, and community members by participating in on- and off-campus events.
RAMP pairs undergraduate and graduate students -- who are overseen by a faculty mentor -- on research/scholarly/creative projects to provide them with the opportunity to learn from one another and gain valuable skills. Graduate student applications are due April 30. Undergraduate student applications are due June 30.

6th Annual Inspiration, Innovation, Impact: A Celebration of Graduate Student Research
The Graduate College and the Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA) will celebrate graduate student research and scholarship at the sixth annual Inspiration, Innovation, Impact: A Celebration of Graduate Student Research to kick off the annual Graduate Research Forum. While this is normally a festive in-person reception, this year it will be a virtual event. We will virtually showcase the best in graduate scholarship at UNLV.
