Hello graduate students,
I hope your summer break is continuing to be restful and productive.
I'm reaching out today to share the following important updates:
- UNLV's Division of Research and Economic Development has issued guidance on the resumption of research that aligns with federal and local directives related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Below please find the documents regarding the resumption of research:
- On June 9, UNLV distributed a Student Official email regarding student requests for remote learning in fall 2021. The email, in part, reads, "We understand that some students may need or prefer to continue with remote learning, but find that the classes in which they intended to enroll are being offered in-person only. We will work with these students, their advisors, and their instructors on an individual basis to determine whether a remote/online schedule is appropriate and achievable." Please refer to the June 9 Student Official email or the UNLV COVID-19 webpage for more information.
- UNLV's Supporting Our Students (S.O.S.) Emergency Relief Fund provides financial resources for UNLV students facing an unexpected emergency situation. Applications are accepted only when funding is available. Grants of up to $500 are available for summer school registrants. S.O.S. funds are available once per academic year.
Summer school students who need such support should review the eligibility requirements and apply online. Applications will be reviewed by Student Life. Funds for this grant program are provided by Charles Schwab Bank and the Minority Serving Institution Student Council.
In addition to the S.O.S. Emergency Relief Fund, UNLV continues to offer counseling, health services, and other support resources. If you're unsure of how to access the services, please complete this help form to be directed to the appropriate area.
- Emergency retention grants through the Graduate College are also still available. These grants are intended to provide student support when other financial resources have been exhausted and students have a documented need. Emergency retention grants can be used for anything that helps students stay enrolled and progress in their program, including things like software or a WiFi hotspot, unexpected health bills, and short-term funds to help meet basic needs. Learn more on the emergency retention grants webpage.
As always, please reach out to the Graduate College team if we can be of any assistance.
Take care and be well,
|
