April 15 Resolution and GA Appointments
Spring 2019 is in full swing, and that means that it is time to start thinking about and appointing your GAs for Fall 2019 - Spring 2020.

When communicating to your current and future GAs about their financial offers for fall 2019, please keep in mind that UNLV supports the Council of Graduate Schools April 15 Resolution regarding graduate scholars, fellows, trainees, and assistants. This means that students are under no obligation and should not be required to accept an offer of financial support before April 15.

Per the April 15 Resolution, acceptance of financial support accepted after April 15 commits the student not to accept another offer without first obtaining a written release from the institution to which a commitment has been made.

So, what does this mean for GAs? All official offers of graduate assistantships come from the Graduate College via the Grad Rebel Gateway. Any GA offer made prior to April 1, 2019 will have a deadline of April 15, 2019. Any GA offers that are made after April 1, 2019 will have a two-week window to accept.

For more information about the April 15 Resolution, please visit the Council of Graduate Schools website. Many questions regarding GA regulations, policies, and deadlines can be found in the Graduate Assistant Handbook, your go-to resource for everything GA!
