Gateway Graduate Commons Closed
The Graduate College's physical office at the University Gateway Building, including the Gateway Graduate Commons student study space, is closed until further notice. The Lied Graduate Commons on the second floor of Lied Library remains open for access to computers, technology, and a study space for graduate students. The Graduate College team will continue to provide 100% of its services remotely. You can contact the Graduate College team

MSI Graduate Student Open Access Fund
The Minority-Serving Institution Student Council and the UNLV University Libraries are pleased to introduce the MSI Graduate Student Open Access Fund. This fund aims to help promote publishing activity among all graduate students at UNLV, with an eye toward minority and historically underrepresented students at UNLV -- a demographic with documented lower rates of academic publishing. As a complement to the UNLV Open Article Fund for tenured and tenure-track faculty, the MSI Graduate Student Open Access Fund provides graduate students at UNLV an opportunity to further publications as a developing professional in their field of study.

2020 Rebel Grad Slam Results
Kendra McClothen, a Ph.D. student in Neuroscience, and Harjiv Singh, a Ph.D. student in Kinesiology, tied for first place in the 2020 Rebel Grad Slam competition on Nov. 18.
Rebel Grad Slam, an annual event hosted by the Graduate College, challenges graduate students to present their research in a condensed and compelling way using only three minutes and one slide.
Preliminary and semifinal rounds throughout the week culminated in a final round featuring 12 students representing disciplines ranging from couple and family therapy to mechanical engineering. Second place went to Andrew Ortiz (Interdisciplinary Health Sciences), and third place to Shaimaa Abdelhaleem (Geoscience).

Every year, graduate students are eligible to apply for a variety of merit-based scholarships and fellowships through the Grad Rebel Gateway. Applications are now being accepted through Dec. 1 for these scholarships and fellowships for the 2021-22 academic year. Tuesday, Dec. 1 is no ordinary Tuesday. It's #GivingTuesday, an annual one-day global fundraising movement that encourages everyone to get involved in transforming their communities. The Graduate College is seeking community support on #GivingTuesday for the Graduate Student Emergency Support Fund. This fund provides emergency financial support
for students who need help with basic needs, such as food and housing, as well as resources they need to complete their studies, such as loaner laptops and software licenses. If you know anyone who may be interested in supporting the Graduate Student Emergency Fund, please invite them to make a gift on Dec. 1.
