Opportunity for Research-based Programs & Certifications for Graduate Students The Graduate College Professional Development Academy is accepting applications for 2019-20 programs and certifications. The deadline is coming right up, with most applications due April 8. Why should graduate and professional students participate in these programs? There are several reasons: These programs help our students hone important transferable skills that will give them a competitive edge in a variety of career pathways. Students get out of their silos and meet other graduate students from a variety of different disciplines, expanding their professional network. Students are involved in creating a strong campus-wide scholarly community. Several of the programs include stipends and/or conference travel support. Academic Support Certifications | Application deadline: April 8 Free, year-long professional development programs - complete with workshops, cohort meetings, and culminating experiences - in the areas of research, teaching, mentorship, and communication. Grad Rebel Advantage | Application deadline: April 15 Provides cohorts of UNLV undergraduate students with mentorship, workshops, professional development opportunities, and scholarships to help prepare them for graduate studies, whether at UNLV or elsewhere. Grad Rebel Ambassadors | Application deadline: April 8 Ambassadors are highly visible members of the Graduate College team helping to build a strong graduate student Rebel community and strengthen ties between the Graduate College, alumni, and community members by participating in on- and off-campus events. Grad Rebel Writing Boot Camp | August 2019 application deadline: April 8 A biannual, weeklong program that assists students working on major writing pieces, including theses, dissertations, and publications. Post-Master’s Career Pathways Program | Application deadline: April 8 A year-long professional development program designed to help master’s students explore and prepare for a variety of career options. Rebel Research and Mentorship Program | Application deadline: April 8 (undergraduate) Pairs undergraduate and graduate students -- who are overseen by a faculty mentor -- on research/scholarly/creative projects to provide them with the opportunity to learn from one another and gain valuable skills. We have selected the graduate student mentors. We are still accepting applications for the undergraduate student mentees. Additional information can be found here. Graduate College Medallion Program | Application deadline: Feb. 5 (spring), June 27 (summer), Oct. 1 (fall) Honors exceptionally involved and high-achieving students with medallions to be worn at commencement.
