Every day, we're inundated with news stories about the latest research study on healthy and unhealthy foods, fad diets, diseases, and other health trends. This workshop will help attendees learn how to critically analyze news reports, discover resources to help them understand their own health, and learn about the statistics that can cause confusion. Student Diversity and Social Justice is proud to announce the publication of their most recent cultural resource guide "What's Tea?: The Queer and Trans People of Color Cultural Resource Guide." SDSJ provides students with campus and community resources. More cultural resource guides to come.

Oct. 26: Final Day to Submit Application for Graduation
Final day to submit an application for graduation through MyUNLV account. More information on extended Fall 2020 graduation deadlines can be found on the Graduate College COVID-19 webpage (under Current Students, Completing Your Degree).
Oct. 28: Rebel Grad Slam Call for Participants
The Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis Competition challenges graduate students to present their research in three minutes using one PowerPoint slide. Participants will be evaluated on how well they explain and communicate the most significant parts of their scholarship/research. Winners of the preliminary rounds will progress to the semi-final round, and winners of the semi-final round will compete in the final round. Those interested in participating in this competition, taking place Nov. 9-18, must register by Oct. 28. Learn more.
Nov. 6: Fall 2020 Graduate College Medallion Deadline
Have you been involved in Graduate College programming during your time as a graduate student at UNLV? If so and you are graduating in fall 2020, submit a completion form by Nov. 6 for the Graduate College Medallion program, which honors exceptionally involved and high-achieving students. Learn more.
Dec. 1: 2021-22 Scholarship/Fellowship Applications
Every year, graduate students are eligible to apply for a variety of merit-based scholarships and fellowships through the Grad Rebel Gateway. Applications are now being accepted through Dec. 1 for these scholarships and fellowships for the 2021-22 academic year. Oct. 23: Beyond the Professoriate: What Every STEM Ph.D. Should Know About Working in Industry

In this panel discussion, three STEM Ph.D.s share their experiences of searching for jobs in industry and what they had to learn in their new careers. Attendees will be able to articulate the routines and challenges of a STEM Ph.D. working in industry, identify common careers for STEM Ph.D.s outside of academia, and apply networking strategies to assist in their industry job search. Nov. 11: Graduate College First-Gen Social Media Contest
Are you a first-gen student? Hop on to Facebook or Twitter on Nov. 11 for a chance at winning a $250 scholarship and Graduate College swag. Share a selfie and caption that includes your program, why you chose UNLV, and what it means to you to be a first-gen student. Tag the Graduate College (FB: @unlvgradcollege, TW: @unlv_gc) and use #FirstGen.
Nov. 18: Rebel Grad Slam Finals
4-5 p.m., livestream via YouTube
The Rebel Grad Slam challenges students to a 3-minute/1-slide presentation to showcase their research to the audience and judges in a condensed and compelling way. Join the Graduate College on Nov. 18 from 4-5 p.m. for the final round, which will be livestreamed. Please RSVP by Nov. 17.

Tuesday Talks is a virtual space created by Student Counseling and Psychological Services for UNLV students of color to openly engage in dialogues around what it means to be a person of color on campus.
