Sept. 14: Successfully Launch your Graduate Career: Tips for First-Year Students

Sept. 16: Strategies for Special Collections & Archives Research
This workshop is for anyone planning to use unique materials in library archives or special collections at UNLV or another library, archive or museum. Participants will learn to locate where collections are held, use collection descriptions and finding aids to discover relevant material, and share tips on collecting and organizing the historical gems they uncover. Sept. 16: Navigating the UNLV Graduate College T/D Process
Participants of this workshop will learn the steps to help prepare to write a thesis or dissertation, understand the UNLV Graduate College thesis and dissertation formatting process, learn what DigitalScholarship@UNLV is, understand what ProQuest is and how to upload the final version to ProQuest, learn what iThenticate is and how to use it, and learn about the IRB review process. Sept. 21: Using Zotero to Store Your Sources and Find Them Again
The Rebel Grad Slam: 3-Minute Thesis Competition is an annual event for graduate students to showcase their research and scholarship in an engaging way. To prepare for the competition, graduate students are encouraged to attend this workshop where they will learn about the Rebel Grad Slam 3MT, learn strategies for streamlining important aspects of their research and its broader significance, learn how to design a slide that will stand out during the competition, hear from previous winners and judges who will discuss their experiences with the Rebel Grad Slam 3MT, and work on their draft or completed presentation outline for the Rebel Grad Slam 3MT.

The Rebel Grad Slam: 3-Minute Thesis Competition challenges graduate students to present their research in three minutes using one PowerPoint slide. Those interested in participating in this competition, taking place Nov. 9-18, must register by Oct. 28.
