The Scholarly Communication Initiatives department invites UNLV researchers to ask questions about open access publishing. The sessions will be structured with a brief introduction to the topic at the beginning and on the half-hour, and will move on to participant questions in the order received. Participants may join (and leave) at any time during the hour. A short introduction will kick off the session.

Nevena Cvijetic Earns Promotion to Executive Director of Leadership, Professional, and Career Development at Graduate College
The Graduate College is pleased to announce that Nevena Cvijetic has been hired as the Executive Director of Leadership, Professional, and Career Development. Cvijetic is a UNLV alumna, earning a bachelor's degree in Public Administration, a bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, and an MBA from the Lee Business School. Cvijetic has experience across a diverse range of industries, including hospitality, healthcare, nonprofits, and higher education. Prior to working with the Graduate College as a graduate assistant and Grant & Program Manager, she was a Program Director at a local nonprofit.

March 15: GPSA Travel & Research Sponsorship Summer Cycle (May, June, July)
One of the most important services the GPSA offers UNLV graduate and professional students is the allocation of funds for graduate and professional research, conference/event travel, and other scholarly activities. Applicants are eligible for up to three research and/or travel sponsorship awards per academic year (fall to summer semester) and may submit only one application for each sponsorship cycle. The annual maximum amount any student may be awarded is $1,250.00. Please review the

March 26: GPSA Executive Board Elections Declaration of Candidacy
The Graduate & Professional Student Association is accepting Declarations of Candidacy through Friday, March 26 at 5 p.m. for its Executive Board. Any graduate or professional student is eligible to run for secretary and treasurer positions. Students who have served as a department representative on the GPSA council are eligible to run for vice president and president.
March 29: UNLV Graduate College Mural Project Proposal
The Graduate College invites proposals from UNLV students, faculty, and staff for a large-scale mural on one of two interior walls in the University Gateway Building
. Artists, designers, and creatives may propose to do an original, hand-painted mural or an original graphic design that the Graduate College will have printed as a large-scale wall wrap and installed. Both mediums are welcome. Reasonable mural painting supplies will be funded based on approved budgets and then purchased through the Graduate College following UNLV purchasing practices. In addition, selected muralists will receive honoraria ($1,500) after completion of the work. Proposals are due March 29, 2021. The project must be completed by July 31, 2021. Learn more and

April 21: National Wildlife Federation Fellowships
These two fellows will support EcoLeaders and EcoCareers through a variety of methods, such as: researching programs that center on equity and justice, youth leadership, project design, and career development; conducting telephone and electronic surveys of students, faculty, and community organizations; making recommendations for program design and implementation; and writing or revising published content.
This fellow will research college and university zero waste and plastics use reduction best practices, develop summaries and recommendations to share online, and research and create a list of U.S. campuses to engage in the Campus Race to Zero Waste program.

Center for Individual, Couple, and Family Counseling Accepting New Clients
The Center for Individual, Couple and Family Counseling (CICFC)
is a resource for therapy services not only for UNLV students and staff but also for members of the Las Vegas community. The services at the CICFC are provided by graduate students in their second year of the couple and family therapy master's degree program. These student clinicians are trained to offer services for the following presenting issues: depression, anxiety, career decisions, child behavioral issues, communication problems, coping skills, social isolation, parenting skills, premarital counseling, and relationship difficulties. Services also are provided in Spanish. Clients only need access to the internet and a device such as a smart phone or computer to hold sessions with their therapist.
