Anne Sutton

Graphic Designer, Herman Miller

Years ago, Anne knew she wanted to be a graphic designer – but at the time, she didn’t have a portfolio. At Ferris, that was okay. Instead of needing a body of work to start, Anne started with the basics and honed her skills from there, building a portfolio and working her way to real client experience.

Her body of work, plus the hands-on experience she got at Ferris, helped her land a job at a company known worldwide as a design leader – Herman Miller. Today, she’s helping own and shape the Herman Miller brand in North American through online, video, and print.

Keith Lackscheide

Controls Engineer, Dematic

Career Outcome Secondary 2

It didn’t take long once Keith graduated to get hired at Dematic, a material handling company that’s known and trusted around the world. In large part, it was because he had already the skills needed to succeed on the job. He attributes his preparation to the program at Ferris, which gave him direct access to computers, circuits, electronics, and other innovative equipment.

Since being hired he’s been able to travel across the United States and overseas to China, working closely with companies like Amazon to ensure they’re achieving ultimate efficiency.

Ryan Gnass

Josh examining chemical and testing purity a Dow’s Colorado Facility

Olszewski is completing an internship with Dow Chemical, located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He is working on nearly 10 events per week while updating webpages, press clipping and researching the impact of the festivals, as well as managing the company blog.

“If I had to choose my favorite part, I’d say it’s the overall culture of the organization. The people are inspiring and extremely helpful—oh and getting to see concerts at the beautiful Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail, Colo.”

Derek Rottman

Owner, Fission3

Career Outcome Secondary 5

Derek has flown to Seattle, New York, and Paris doing what he loves – and he has Ferris State University to thank. From year one as a student, Derek was using industry-specific equipment – much like the cameras and editing programs he uses today.

Upon graduation, Derek learned quickly that the video industry cared more than anything about the skills and experience one brings to the table. Luckily, he had plenty of both.
